Manna From Heaven

Imagine yourself as one of the Jews who has left Egypt for the promised land. Now imagine being told that you were going to wander in the desert for the next forty years? One of the biggest concerns I would have is, "What am I going to eat? How am I going to survive?"

God provided.

Then Yahweh said to Moses, "I will rain down bread from heaven for you." Exodus 16:4

Who provided? God did! The One whose name is "I am" provided for the Jews back then, and He provides for you and me today as well.

Imagine if the Jews had to find food for themselves during those forty years. What would have happened if they relied on themselves instead of God's providence? God provides in ways that are not only meant to be miraculous, but also meant to teach us important lessons about who God is and our relationship with Him.

He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on brad alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:3 NIV

This was also Jesus' response during His battle in the wilderness with Satan for forty days. God's point to the Jews as they left Egypt, to Satan as Jesus prepared for His earthly ministry and to you and me as we go through this thing called life is that we must have complete dependence on God.

What are you depending on for your daily bread? Are you relying on material wealth? a particular relationship? or perhaps just yourself because, after all, you're all you need, right?

Don't starve yourself today. God is Who you need at this very moment.
